My husband of 39 years, Gary and I live in Hermiston Oregon. We are both retired, I retired from Pierce College, Puyallup as the Parent Education CoOrdinator. We have 1 daughter who is married and lives in Echo Oregon on a small ranch about 25 miles from us. Both Gary and I are still involved in horses, he is a team roper and I follow my love of barrel racing. We have enjoyed our retirement and our home here in Oregon.

I graduated from Clover Park, spent a couple of years working, married Bill, had two children and continued to live in Lakewood for the next 28 years. I enjoyed being a "stay at home" mom and raising my daughter and son. In 1988 we moved to the Portland-Vancouver area and have been there ever since. Our son lives nearby and our daughter lives in Couer D Alene, ID. We travel in our coach mainly around the West 7 or 8 months a year and have seen some beautiful sights. I have played golf for the past 48 years and enjoyed playing tournaments around the states of Oregon and Washington. When Bill retired 8 years ago, travel and other priorities took up a lot of my golf time. We have two grandchildren, Julia 13 and Logan 4. It has been wonderful spending time with them. It was just great seeing and visiting with so many of you at the reunion. They will be lifetime memories and thank you to a great committee for making it all possible. Bravo!

Margaret Dezell
Retired music band and orchestra teacher
Single

Since graduating from good old CPH in 1961, I attended Washington State University where I got my 4 then 5 year Bachelors in Music Education and later my Masters. I was hired into the Edmonds School District where I taught secondary band and orchestra primarily at Edmonds, then after a merger, Edmonds-Woodway High School.
As many of you had my mother for an English teacher, I’ll share with you her passing in May of 1983 after a fierce battle with cancer.
My interest in boating came from my early years in Girl Scouts, so in 1985 I got my first boat. After my father passed away in 1993 I took over the DEZELL IV, a 1937 forty two foot ELCO. Yes, it’s older than us! In January 2006 an article about me and Mackie appeared in the Sea Magazine. It was quite an honor.
In 2001 I retired from the Edmonds School District after 35 years of teaching- a fantastic experience, one I passionately loved. I continue to boat with one “crew” presently an eight year old yellow lab/border collie mix, MacKenzie McGregor “Mackie”. This past spring I received my 60 year pin from the Girl Scouts. I fill my spare time helping at the off leash dog park putting in trails and picking up after the lazy owners. I’ve been in my home for 43 years and plan to stay there. I continue to explore our beautiful state by car, and let the rest of the world travel to more exotic, but not necessarily more lovely, places.
Looking forward to a fantastic 50th CPH reunion, Margaret |

Former San Juan Co. Assessor

Paul received his teaching degree from Central Wa. State College in secondary instrumental music. In '65 he began his career in Friday Harbor teaching vocal & instrumental music K-12. The school district size was class D, really small like about 135 students in HS. In FH, Paul met Candy (Mary) and they married 7/1/67. Then Paul taught in the lower Puget Sound area for five years; during that time he played French Horn in the Tacoma Symphony. In 1972, the same teaching position became available in FH; was hired and taught until 1979. During that time, the HS Band received superior rating at band contest for five consecutive years and in 1975 the group was selected to perform at All Northwest Music Convention in Spokane representing small school instrumental music programs in the NW. From 1979 to 1986, Paul worked at the County Assessor's Office as an appraiser. He ran for County Assessor in '86 and won a four-year term. He was successful in winning four more terms and was co. assessor for 20 yrs., after which he retired in 2007. While co. assessor, he was a member of the State Assessors' Assoc.; chaired several standing committees; promoted several state legislative bills, now law, and was President of the State organization in 1996. Paul is currently still working with government groups; involved in many church activities; works the family farm and enjoys small community island life in general. Looking back at career opportunities, teaching music was the most fulfilling. Going through the '61 Klahowya recently was very rewarding, especially reading what friends wrote in the annual. The reunion will be a joy to attend! . |

Wow!! I cannot believe that it has been 50 years since our graduation. I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the reunion, but do hope to come to the next one and hope that it will be in five years.I moved to San Franisco in 1964 and met my husband, Bob, in 1970. I then moved to San Mateo and have been here ever since. I retired from the Federal government in 1994 and worked most of my Federal career as a Budget Analyst for the U. S. Department of Labor. Bob and I have had lots of fun with our old cars and last October we drove our 1946 Ford convertible to St. George, Utah and in 2006 we drove it to Tacoma to attend Early Ford V8 meets. We keep busy with all the activities and have taken lots of short trips also. Hope that all of you attending the reunion have a wonderful time and I wish I could be there. Diane Carlson Dupont |
