We offer a few comments on hotel/motel/inn accomodations under '"Accomodations." The page "Hotel Reservations" allows you to make direct contact with a number of faciliities in the greater Tacoma area. Under "Restaurants" we also provide a few suggestions regarding eating venues you may wish to consider in the Lakewood area. The Adriatic Restaurant at Oakbrook, which serves as the venue for our Saturday Reunion, is also open to the general public.
Under "Things do Do" we offer a few suggestions about tourist opportunities which did not exist some 50 years ago as well as a couple that you may have actually visited as a young child.

In September, the Zoo hours are: 9:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday - Friday, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.
The Point Defiance Park is now connected by a walking/bicycle trail down to the center of Tacoma, all part of Metro Parks Tacoma. This visionary work took decades to complete, and has become a most welcome attraction for meandering along the Ruston Way Waterfront and Conmencement Bay. The trail also connects to Tacoma's major museum attractions.

It displays Northwest animals (from the wolverine to the cougar) in a nature setting & offers a 45 minute tram ride (handicap accessible) through the free roaming core area housing elk, deer, caribou, moose, bison, etc. An automobile drive-thru option is now available. However, please contact Trek directly for booking information. Five miles of walking trails are also available for those desiring additional exercise. Don't miss the new overhead eagle viewing area.
After a long planing process, Trek opened up a new "childrens'' play zone. This is definitely a 'plus addition' for any child accompanying you to the park.

The Fair, now called the Washington Fair, takes place September1st- 24th in 2023 and will be ongoing during our reunion. As they say -- "Do the Puyallup!!" As an important side note, our classmate Saxon 'Bill' Rawlings wrote both the music and the tune for the musical jingle back in 1976.

gLocated on the south side of the Lakewood's Colonial Center, the Museum is well worth a short visit to gain a better appreciation of the community we lived in for many years. There are a number of displays -- a homestead cabin as well as a local newspaper and post office. Not to be missed is the collection of old high school yearbooks. The museum is small but a true gem!

While the 3,000 plus collection Harold LeMay assembled during his lifetime has been reduced, the collection on display is most impressive. The museum is open 10 am to 5 pm Thursday thru Monday.
The Tacoma museum is only part of the LeMay collection. Another 1,500 cars are held at the LeMay Family Collection in Marymount on 84 acres with some 500 vehicles normally on display at any time. [325 152nd Street East, Tacoma, WA 98445; tel. no. 253-272-2336;

Need some exercise during your stay? Consider the Pierce County Parks and Recreation programs. In Lakewood, the Lakewood Communty Center has a "Drop-In Program." Unfortunately the pickle ball courts are not available at this time.. However, they are at the Sprinkler Communty Center in Spanaway. Contact them at 253-798-4000 for more information.
Of note, this spring, the State Legislature declared Pickleball to be the offical sport of Washington State!

The Seaport museum is located in a century-old wooden wheat warehouse, built for cargo arriving by rail and departing by sailing vessels.
